My name is Sr. Merrita Mary and I belong to the Order of the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (FIH Sisters). I grew up in a small town called Aluva, in the state of Kerala in southern India. My profession was on May 2. 1990. I am so proud to say that my oldest niece is a nun and a pediatrician in my own order.
In 1998, I was sent from India to Indiana. While living there I earned a BA in Elementary Education from Marian University in Indianapolis. In addition, I received endorsements in middle school math.
One of the basic aims for founding our religious order was to promote education for all. Following faithfully the charism of our founder, Reverend Father Louis Savinien Dupuis, a servant of God, I have been happy for the opportunity to dedicate myself to students’ spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional and physical development over the past 15 years. I am so grateful to share my joy, love, and passion as an educator at such an amazing Catholic school and the parish as Our Lady of Peace.
God is so kind to lead me through wherever He sends me, and I believe that He will continue to guide me. His providence never fails.
